Enrollment in Catalina’s medical plans also provides automatic enrollment in prescription drug coverage that is administered by RxBenefits + OptumRx. Enrolled employees do not need to make a separate election for pharmacy benefits, but will need to utilize a separate ID card to access the pharmacy benefits. Employees can expect to receive an ID card in the mail from OptumRx.

What is a PBM or Pharmacy Benefit Manager?
PBMs, or Pharmacy Benefit Managers, are companies that deliver prescription benefits. Their services include backend pharmacy claims processing, building pharmacy networks, and more. OptumRx will be Catalina’s PBM as of January 1, 2026.
You will have access to one of the largest national retail pharmacy networks, OptumRx. Prior to your effective date, you will receive a new ID card containing OptumRx’s information needed for the pharmacy to process your claims. Use the OptumRx app to:
Refill or renew a home delivery prescription
Transfer a retail prescription to home delivery
Find drug prices and lower-cost options
View your prescription claim history or order status
Locate a pharmacy
Set up refill reminders
Track your order
However, all your pharmacy benefits questions should be directed to the RxBenefits’ Member Services.
Pharmacy Tips
You may utilize any of the participating retail pharmacies that are part of the OptumRx network to get plan discounts. At a non-participating pharmacy, you may be responsible for 100% of the prescription price.
By using generic medicines, you can help make sure you get better value based on your plan and individual needs. Review the drug formulary list to find out which therapeutic medicines provide you with greater savings.
